A DERBY PORCELAIN SHELL-FORM THREE-TIER SWEETMEAT DISH CIRCA 1760

There are some typical, occasional, very minor chips or losses to the edges of the pierced coral- and shell-applied base and stand or some minor abbrasion or chipping to the rim edges of the scallop shells. The top scallop shell has a 3 in by 1 in area at its back end broken off and restored back on; the restoration is flaking. The gherkin affixed in the interior center of the shell has some restoration, which has turned yellow. Two of the middle shells, each has a fine haircrack running down the rim or around the cavetto area, measuring approximately 1 inch long. One of the lower shells has a firing-related haircrack running down the rim edge just below where the seaweed support meets the shell. The same shell has a small rimchip and restored area on the exterior. There are two further firing-related cracks on the base. Another lower shell has some restoration visible on the exterior, possibly covering a chip or a haircrack.
