Description

  • Porcelain
  • height of tallest 7 3/4 in.
  • 19.7 cm
Together with a similar small Derby porcelain figure of a stag. 3 pieces.

Condition

The pair: Both with typical minor chips, losses or restoration to the tips of the bocage, applied leaves or flowers and antlers. The stag on the left in the catalogue illustration has an approximate 1-1/2-inch section on its left hind leg broken into three pieces and glued back; one of the pieces is missing and has been filled with white plaster. The same stag has the tip of its right front foot chipped. The stag on the right in the catalogue illustration has a few very fine and short haircracks around the body of the stag; the rear section of the stag above his tail appears to have suffered some damage during the manufacturing process, resulted in a 1 by 1 inch circular area and a large area of firing-related faults and tears which have been camouflaged by an arrangement of flowers, similar to those on the bocage. The tip of its left hind leg is chipped. The smaller figure has both antlers broken and restored back; there are minor chips and restoration to the tips of both ears. Its right hind leg is restored. There is a 3/4 by 1/2 inch restored area by the edge of the base below the stag's right front leg, possibly covering a flat chip. There are some very minor chips or restoration to the tips of the bocage.
