Condition

The surface of the work is in generally good condition apart from pigment separation throughout the lower half of the picture, and in the central tree behind the dog. A horizontal crack or abrasion extending from the dog's lower back to the right edge of the panel. A few areas of repaint or cloud varnish visible in the grass at left and right. Boxers: Indistinctly signed and dated 189-. 18 by 22 in.; 45.8 by 55.9 cm. The canvas is lined. The surface of the work is in generally good condition, apart from a few abrasions and associated losses upper left and near the top edge. The paint thin in areas.
