comprising a straw-glazed figure of a camel, Sui/Tang Dynasty; a pair of Cizhou stoneware figures of elephants, Ming Dynasty; a tileworks stoneware figure of an elephant, Ming/Qing Dynasty; a glazed tileworks stoneware ridge tile of a Makara, Qing Dynasty; and two glazed terracotta roof tiles, 20th century. 7 pieces.

Condition

The straw-glazed figure of a camel has a restored break running from one side of the front leg to the other with an associated triangular-shape break approximately 1 3/4 in. by 3/4 in. There is a restored crack approximately 2 in. to the middle of the body. The base has been broken and restored. All four legs have a restored break. There is typical wear consistent with age. The pair of Cizhuo stoneware figures of elephants - both have overall scattered firing tears particularly noticeable on the stomach and saddle cloth. One has an approximately 1/4 in. chip to one front foot and a chip to the tassel. The tilework stoneware figure of an elephant has firing cracks to all four legs, the center of the body as well as around and to the saddle blanket. The central lobe and lobed rim of the saddle blanket has been restored. There are scattered chips and overall wear consistent with age. The glazed tilework stoneware ridge tile of a makara has scattered minor loss to the glaze and a chipped fang. The two glazed terracotta roof tiles – the green-glazed tile has scattered chips and loss to glaze particularly to the head, hind legs and rim edge. The yellow-glazed tile also has minor chips and loss to glaze particularly to the back, tile surface and rim edge.
