Condition

Landseer: The canvas has been lined. The surface of the work is in good condition. Slight frame abrasion visible in the upper left corner, and two further small areas of abrasion near the upper left corner and near the right edge beside the dog's head. A thick varnish overall. Cormon: 16 by 12 3/4 in.; 40.7 by 32.4 cm. Stamped on the reverse F.C. and Vente Cormon....Mars 1984... Original panel laid down on modern back panel. The surface of the work is in good condition, apart from a few areas of abrasion near the right edge at center, in the center to the left of the door, in the top right corner, and along the top edge. An area of possible repaint near the left margin. A thick varnish overall.
