Condition
The drawing is laid on a thin sheet of card. There is a little pale foxing visible in the edges but the overall condition of paper and chalk is very fresh.

The present work is a preliminary study for a pair of cupids in Boucher's La Toilette de Vénus, Private Collection, New York.1 We are grateful to Alastair Laing for his assistance in cataloguing this drawing and for confirming the attribution to Boucher.
