  • Gelatin silver print
mounted, signed and dated in pencil on the mount, titled, dated, and with 'RA 8176A' in pencil and the photographer's 'Box 310, Rte. 3, Old Lyme. Conn. 06371' (Stamp K) and 'Rights Reserved' stamps on the reverse, 1936, probably printed in the 1930s or early 1940s (Keller 566)

Condition

This photograph, on paper with a semi-glossy surface, is in generally very good condition. Faint silvering is visible in raking light. Also visible upon close examination are the following: a 3/4-inch crease that breaks the emulsion in the lower left corner; a 1/4-inch irregularly-shaped scratch that does not appear to break the emulsion in the upper right quadrant; and a very small impression to the tip of the upper left corner of the print. The edges are lightly rubbed, with a few tiny resultant chips at the periphery. There is a thin 1/4-inch loss of emulsion along the left edge. On the mount, there are 2 thin linear deposits of yellowed adhesive, which suggest that this print was at one point overmatted. There is light soiling from handling on the reverse of the mount. Also on the reverse is a thin strip of paper tape running the length of the right edge.
