Condition
This photograph, on double-weight semi-glossy paper, is trimmed to the image. There are several sharp creases of varying sizes overall, most of which appear to break the emulsion. These creases are only visible when viewing the print is raking light and are not apparent when viewing the print framed. The edges are worn, with resultant chipping.
On the reverse of the print are the following notations by Frank in ink: 'For Ralph,' 'yes,' and 'Dec. 76. NYC.' Also on the reverse in an unknown hand in pencil are: '33.0' and '.04-1-84.' The reverse is soiled overall, and there are 2 one-inch yellowed deposits of adhesive.
When examined under ultraviolet light, this print appears to fluoresce.

Catalogue Note
This print is inscribed by Frank to Ralph Gibson, who published the first American edition of Frank's autobiographical monograph, The Lines of My Hand, under his Lustrum Press imprint. The book had originally been published in Japan as a deluxe limited edition. For the Lustrum edition, Frank worked with Gibson to create a more concise version of the book which was issued in paperback, with a cover design by Frank's wife, the artist June Leaf, in 1972.
