- SELECTED IMAGES FROM SPANISH VILLAGE
- 2 gelatin silver prints
2 photographs, Spinner and Spanish Wake from W. Eugene Smith: A Portfolio of Ten Photographs (Roslyn Heights, 1977, an edition of 25), each mounted, signed in ink on the mount, a letterpress portfolio label on the reverse, framed, 1951, printed in 1977 (Johnson 13:038 and 13:073) (2)
Condition
These prints are in generally excellent condition.
Spinner - when examined in raking light, the following are visible: light silvering in the dark areas and a small dome-shaped mounting bubble with trapped air at the upper left corner. The mount is lightly foxed, but this does not appear to have affected the print.
Spanish Wake - There is a tiny nick in the emulsion at the left edge of the print. There is light foxing on the mount, and light soiling on the reverse of the mount.
These are plates 7 and 10 from the portfolio. They are both 19/25. These images were used in LIFE, 9 April 1951.
