Condition

Lewis Carroll's diary entry for 22 June 1874 indicates that this photograph was taken on 18 May 1874. This albumen print is in generally very good condition. The deep brown tones and creamy highlights of this albumen print have lightened somewhat over time, although the fine details of the image remain strong. Upon close examination in high raking light, a few small scuffs and insignificant scratches are visible. The thin mount is appropriately age-darkened at its periphery, and the corners are bumped.
