Description
- Peter Beard
- 'P. B. [PETER BEARD] AT JOHN PALMER'S VERMONT (C. 1750) HOUSE DURING "HALLELUJAH THE HILLS"'
- Gelatin silver print
a diptych, titled and dated in ink on the image, mounted, in a driftwood frame made to the photographer's specifications, dedicated by him on the frame's paper backing, 1961-62, printed in 1998 (Peter Beard, Vol. II, p. 159)
Provenance
The photographer to the present owner, 1998
Condition
This print has not been viewed out of the frame, so as not to disturb the dedication on the reverse of the frame's brown paper backing, but it appears to be in generally excellent condition.
The brown paper backing on the reverse of the frame has several tears. The dedication by the photographer, in black ink, reads:
'Happy Birthday! the GREAT DIRECTOR, To RENNY H. with . . . the BEST HOR D'OEUVRES in history (this from the Fahey/Klein opening - invitation March 17th-18th '98) from Your fellow celebrator, Friday the 13th, 1998'
In addition, on the reverse of the frame is a The Time Is Always Now, New York, gallery label and gallery information label on which the photographer has circled 'Not For Sale, Sorry' and has written 'during "Hallelujah the Hills," 1961-2' in ink.
