Description

  • Harry Callahan
  • ELEANOR
  • Gelatin silver print
mounted to illustration board, signed in pencil on the mount, framed, circa 1948 (Cox, fig. 8)

Provenance

Acquired from Barbara Schwartz, Inc., New York, 1992

Condition

This early contact print, on glossy paper and mounted to thick, green-paper-backed illustration board, is in generally very good condition. In high raking light, various soft scuffs and hairline scratches are visible. Also visible upon close examination on the sitter's buttocks are two 1/4-inch horizontal creases, which may break the emulsion ever-so-slightly. The mount has been trimmed to slightly larger than the print.
