Provenance

Condition

This ferrotyped print, on medium-weight paper, is in generally very good condition. Upon close examination, an irregular 3/4-inch vertical crease is visible in the upper portion of the image on the sitter's shoulder. There is a small, matte deposit, possibly original retouching, in the lower left quadrant. In high raking light, the following are also visible: a few small deposits of original retouching; a few small, soft handling creases that do not appear to break the emulsion; and scattered hairline surface scuffs. The edges of the print are worn, with small losses primarily along the left edge, and the corners are creased. The photographer's studio stamp on the reverse of the print reads as follows: '81, Rue du Faubourg St-Jacques, Paris XIV, Téléph.: Port-Royal 23-.' The reverse is numbered '1' (circled) in pencil. When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
