serti d'un anneau en or retenant huit pétals, chacun délicatement ciselé et émaillé des différents attributs des Arts et Sciences, se refermant maintenant sur un disque de nacre, la tige ciselée et émaillée d'arabesques rouges, la tige et la matrice postérieurs en jaspe sanguin, apparemment non poinçonné

a sliding gold ring enamelled with roses, holding eight pointed petals, each delicately chased and brightly enamelled with different attributes of the arts and sciences, now closing over a mother of pearl disc, the shaft chased and enamelled in red and white with arabesques, later bloodstone stem and blank matrix, apparently unmarked

Condition

Excellent condition of enamel almost no enamel losses. Base with matrix now detached and need re-attaching.

Il est fort probable que ce seau fût conçu comme une canne d'ombrelle dont les pétales retenaient sûrement le cadran d'une montre.

It is probable that the seal was made as a parasol handle and that the petals were intended to conceal the dial of a watch.
