of cartouche form, the lid inset with a portrait miniature of Wilhelm I, German Emperor, (cracked), within a rose diamond frame, the ground chased with flowers and applied with six paler gold chrysanthemums, the side and base engraved with ivy and other flowers, makers' mark rubbed but probably that of Charles Collins und Söhne

Condition
gold frame below diamonds is loose at front, pins replaced on lid border, slight unevenness on opening and closing, miniature fine apart from the crack, small piece of ivory missing.
