Catalogue Note

Pour la seule autre timbale à anse en argent au poinçon de Lille, par Matthieu Gruart le jeune, 1709, voir Sotheby's Genève, 24 mai 1993, n° 160 et aussi l'ouvrage de Nicole Cartier Les Orfèvres de Lille, n. 130. L'anse de celle-ci présente les mêmes attaches au corps et n'est pas non plus poinçonnée.


Nicole Cartier illustrates the only recorded Lille mug, Matthieu Gruart Le Jeune, 1709, in Les Orfèvres de Lille, n. 130. The handle of this piece is soldered in the same way as the present mug and is also unmarked.
