Condition
the wooden handle and cover are wobbling. Tiny scattered dents and
scratches to the coffe-pot. Slight distortions to bottom edge (base)
and to lower edge of the cover. Dents to top edge.

Catalogue Note
L'orfèvrerie au poinçon de Varese, ville située près du lac Majeur, au nord de Milan, est extrêmement rare. Le poinçon d'orfèvre insculpé sur cette pièce (Saint Pierre tenant les clés) est à rapprocher du poinçon de la dynastie des Bossi à Varèse illustré dans l'ouvrage de Gianguido Sambonet, Gli Argenti Milanesi, 1987, p. 254. Elle peut être comparée à celle en couverture de cet ouvrage, faite à Milan entre 1760 et 1780. Cette cafetière montre par son décor, une influence évidente de l'orfèvrerie gênoise. On peut la comparer, par exemple, à celle illustrée dans l'ouvrage de Gianna Roccatagliata, Argenti Genovesi, 2002, p. 121.
