Condition

In overall very good condition. Four small screws missing under the bases but not essential. One of the central screws to be refixed. Title and maker's marks very legible under the base, guarantee mark on terrace, both stamped ODIOT A PARIS. Extraordinary quality and very large and unusual size. Very good weight.

Pour une salière aux dauphins de modèle approchant mais plus petite, voir vente Sotheby's Paris, 9 novembre 2009, lot 151. Une autre est illustrée dans Jean-Marie Poinçon et Olivier Gaube du Gers, Odiot l'Orfèvre, p. 179. Un ensemble de quatre salières à décor de dauphins et aux armes de Louis-Philippe, duc d'Orléans, a figuré dans la vente de la collection Diane, Sotheby's Genève, 16 novembre 2005, n° 80.

Dans le cas présent, la taille et le poids font de ces salières des éléments d'une grande rareté.
