Condition

Panel is uncradled, with small wood battens affixed to the reverse. under a dull varnish. there is a vertical panel join which runs from top to bottom edge on right side of composition. the paint surface has been very well retained overall and there is very good detail in figures and background. there are a couple of small cracks in panel near top edge and one at lower right corner. some scuffing and slight lifting can be seen along extreme lower edge. under UV: a couple of areas of retouching at upper right and a few others scattered in background areas. retouching all along bottom edge. retouching along top and bottom of join. the area of retouching along the bottom part of the join runs through the figures of the mother and child at lower right; there is also some retouching along one of the aforementined vertical cracks just to the left of the join and which runs through the mother's hand. the figures generally look good with just a few retouches on the blue costume of dancing figure and some others scattered. In a carved and gilt wood frame.
