Description
- Hendrick Gerritsz Pot
- Portrait of a Man; Portrait of a Woman
both, oil on oval panel
Provenance
Gift of Caren Prothro to the Dallas Museum of Art.
Condition
Both panels are in very good condition with a very slight vertical bow. The paint surface of each is in fair condition, though thinning a little in areas, and both have a small patch of restoration, approximately 1 by 1/4 inch on the lower left edge. Inspection under ultra violet is impeded by an opaque varnish which may cover older retouching, though a little strengthening to the upper section of the background in the male portrait is apparent and further strengthening to the sitter's right sleeve is apparent. There is possible retouching to the female sitter's face and hair surrounding her left eye and some strengthening in the background on the right side of the panel.
Both offered in carved wood frames.
