Condition
The canvas is relined and the surface is somewhat pressed as a result though the painting still reads well and retains good detail throughout. There is a scratch of approximately 4 inches through the dog's mouth. Inspection under UV reveals a long, diagonal line of retouching running most of the way down the composition on the left side though this does not appear to have been a tear. There are scattered, very minor retouches consistent throughout and some slightly more extensive retouching to the arch in the background. There is no need for further work. Offered in a carved black and gilt wood frame.
