  • oil on canvas
  • 40 x 50 1/2 inches

Provenance

Gift of Lawrence M. Davis

Condition

The canvas has an old wax relining and the surface is stable if perhaps a little pressed. There is a very small horizontal crack in the background above the horse's ears and another horizontal crack runs approximately 2 inches from the lower left hand edge. There is a possible old repaired puncture just below the stirrup and another in the sky upper right. Inspection under UV reveals some retouching to the aforementioned older damages, there are additional possible retouches to the horse's forehead and three small lines of retouching, possibly attending to surface cracks, in the sky above the saddle. The painting may benefit from a light clean and revarnish. Offered in a modern, carved gilt wood frame.
