Description

  • Still Life of Flowers in a Basket with a Peach on a Ledge
  • oil on canvas

Provenance

Anonymous sale, Paris, Etienne Ader, Hôtel Drouot, 19 March 1934, lot 23 (as School of Jan Frans Van Dael);
There purchased by the family of the present owner.

Condition

The canvas is in good condition with a new relining and the paint surface is secure with minor frame abrasions on all four edges. Inspection under ultra violet light is obscured somewhat by a milky varnish. There appear to be old, minor retouches to the upper edge, throughout the right hand background and to the lower section of the ledge. The flowers appear to have been largely untouched. Offered in a carved, gilt wood frame.
