Condition

Laid down. Overall in very good condition. A small brown stain towards the upper margin in the center of the sheet. A few other faint scattered brown stains, barely visible. Medium remains strong. Sold in a decorative gilded frame.

Catalogue Note

This is probably a work made after Le Prince's return from Russia in 1763.  In the spirit of his romantic compositons inspired by Russian subjects, so popular with collectors of his time, he here returns to a kind of fête champêtre in the European manner.
