Condition

The catalogue illustration is representative. The picture appears to be in generally good condition, with no extant damage or loss of paint. There are old discoloured retouchings in the sky, visible to the eye, and some heavy craquelure in the lower centre. The picture has a heavy lining, thought the surface of the paint is not overly compromised. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals minor retouching and infilling to craquelure overall. The picture is held in a gilded wooden frame in good overall condition.
