Catalogue Note

The sitter was born in Wernigerode in Saxony-Anhalt and became Lord of Gronau in 1612. In 1635 he was appointed Chancellor of Calemberg to the Princes of Brunswick-Lüeberg. He died at Bad-Wildungen in Hesse.
