Catalogue Note

This painting depicts a view of the Amstel from the Hogesluis bridge. On the left is the Weesperzijde with the Lokhorst tavern and the De IJsbreker inn; on the right is the De Berebijt tavern, named after the bear fights held there: all three of these building were destroyed at the end of the 18^th century.
