  • oil on canvas

Provenance

Anonymous sale, New York, Sotheby's, 29 January 2009, lot 222.

Condition

The original is more contracted and with deeper hues than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas is unlined and the paint suface is in excellent condition. There are just a few tiny retouchings to an area of the sky upper right, along an area of the canvas which has rubbed against the stretcher, and some other very minor touches on the deer lower left. Sold with a 19th century frame in good condition.
