Provenance

Anonymous sale ('The Property of a Family Trust'), London, Christie's, 30 April 2010, lot 35 (for £30,000).

Condition

The canvas has been recently cleaned, relined and restored. The firm relining has somewhat flattened the paint surface, which is otherwise in good condition. Inspection under UV light reveals numerous tiny, sensitively applied retouchings throughout and a damage of 2 cm. squared in the clouds of the upper left of the sky. Offered in a later gilt wood and plaster frame in good condition.
