Condition
The catalogue illustration is rather too green in tone. The canvas has been relined. The paint surface is in excellent overallcondition, with only slight signs of wear amng some of the darks, and some original impasto remains. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals no major damages, only scattered local retouchings or strengthenings for example to the buildings on the left or in the sky around the central arch. The varnish has slightly discoloured and the painting should respond beautifully to cleaning.
This lot is offered with a later gilt plaster frame, some chips and damages.
