  • oil on copper

Provenance

Alejandro Cabanyes Marquès (1877-1972);
Thence by descent.

Condition

The hand beaten copper support is a little uneven in places, and has been nailed to a supporting wooden stretcher behind. The paint surface is now very dirty indeed and covered with a layer of discoloured varnish. The paint surface has suffered quite badly from abrasion in some areas, most notably all down the right hand side, and again in the lower left corner, where there has been some loss of paint. Inspection under ultra violet light is hampered by the old varnish but the remainder of the paint surface appears otherwise well preserved, with only minor local old retouchings or small lacunae in evidence. This lot is offered with a plain gilt wood frame.
