Condition
The unframed oval slate is flat and still in one single piece, with some minor chips to the edges of the reverse, though these are not visible from the recto. The paitn surface is a litlle dirty but secure and to the naked eye appears to be in good condition, with the impasto still vibrant. Some minor discoloured retouchings can be seen in the background and in the neck . Inspection under UV light confirms the overall good condition and the aforementioned retouchings. Some further strengthenings and minor retouchings can be seen in the blouse, in the forehead, cheek, left edge of the nose, and chin. These have been sympathetically applied and are not intrusive. Ready to hang.
