Condition

The support of this unframed painting consists of two sheets of metal joined horizontally at the centre. While the support is stable, it has buckled a little towards the upper edge. The paint surface is dirty and some small localised losses are scattered throughout, as well as some light abrasion where the surface appears a little rubbed. To the naked eye the painting looks as though there is some quite extensive repainting in the background, as some discoloured retouchings in the centre, lower left and right. Inspection with UV light confirms the above retouchings and points to some further scattered restorative work.
