Condition
The canvas has a loose, ineffective relining.
The paint surface is currently secure but in appears to have had a serious case of flaking and loose paint in the past. Across the entire canvas are areas one can see areas where the paint has lifted and although it is now consolidated by the lining and a glossy varnish in patches one can see through to the canvas. Old retouching work is visible to the naked eye in these areas and this is confirmed by inspection under UV light.
Offered in carved gilt wood frame with some losses.
