Description

  • The Pseudo-Guardi
  • A still life with roses, carnations and other flowers in a vase on a ledge
  • oil on canvas

Condition

The colour of the original is a touch less pink than it appears in the catalogue illustration. The canvas has a loose relining. The paint surface is secure and appears to be in fair condition under a thick, dirty yellowed varnish. There is an old, restored, horizontal damage running across the top of the canvas and two vertical damages lower right of the vase both approx. 25 cm in length. All three are visible in the catalogue illustration and old retouching work is visible to the naked eye in these areas. Inspection under UV light is thoroughly impeded by the aforementioned varnish. Offered in a carved gilt wood frame with some losses.
