Catalogue Note

At the time of the 2001 sale, Dr. Bernhard Schnackenburg pointed out striking similarities in compositional type and handling with a watercolour in the Abrams Collection.1 He believes the Abrams drawing to be largely by Dusart, over the basis of a sketch by Isack van Ostade, but was not able, on the basis of a photograph, to determine whether the same is true of the present drawing, or if it is entirely by Dusart.
