Condition
Framed, window mounted. There are two small nicks to the left margin. The paper is very slightly yellowed, but otherwise is in excellent condition.

Catalogue Note
Although Ruisdael's drawings are usually slightly more defined and energetic, the details of handing are very close indeed to accepted works by the artist, particularly in the way the wash and chalk are combined and the use of accents of much darker, almost black wash. Comparable examples include the Landscape with a Windmill, in the British Museum, and particularly the View of the Bank of a Stream with Trees and a Road, in a private collection, which Slive dates to the 1660s.1
