- Black chalk heightened with white within brown ink framing lines on blue-green paper
Condition
Laid down on mount, mount attached to board. Light scattered foxing throughout the sheet. A small blue stain, possibly chalk or gouache, at the lower margin. The surrounding mount has various glue stains where another mount was once fixed to the top. The medium remains fresh and strong.

Catalogue Note
The present drawing, although not an exact copy after any of Boucher's known compositions, derives from his approach to the subject of Le Repos de Venus, a theme that he treated frequently. For an example of a similar composition, see Louis-Marin Bonnet's engraving after Boucher.1
