Description

  • Study of two babies
  • Pen and black ink and grey wash with touches of red wash;
    monogrammed and dated, in black ink, lower centre:  IS 1529

Condition

Laid down. Original sheet laid to thicker card for support (evident in the small tear visible lower right where support is visible). Overall in very good condition. The medium is very fresh and sheet relatively clean, a few light stains towards the lower margin. There is a repaired tear, lower left corner. Otherwise fine.

Catalogue Note

Nagler does record this monogram, together with the same date of 1529 inscribed in the same form, but describes this as the signature of an unidentified German artist.1
