Condition

The work has been well preserved. The pigment has lifted in places overall and now sits on the glass in places. There is also minor rubbing but the pigments remain strong and clear overall. Please note that this pastel has not been examined out of its frame.

Catalogue Note

Lady Frances Elizabeth Brudenell-Bruce was the daughter of Thomas Brudenell-Bruce, 1st Earl of Ailesbury K.T. by his first marriage to Susanna Hoare. The present sitter married Sir Henry Wright Wilson, of Chelsea Park, Middlesex, who predeceased her by two years in 1832.
