Both gouache on vellum:
A) bears inscription, on the backing, with the names of the birds: Greater Redpole & Crested Titmouse
Condition
A: Laid down. Overall in good condition. The vellum has remained relatively smooth and has not buckled too much. The gouache is fresh and vibrant with only minor losses visible upper left.
B) Laid down. Vellum has remained smooth. Medium is fresh. In good condition.

Catalogue Note
Christoph Ludwig Agricola gained recognition for his meticulous study of nature. As well as executing many gouaches of various species of birds he also produced small cabinet landscape studies.
