Condition

Window mounted. Overall in good condition. A few small brown stains, one more pronounced in the centre of the sheet just above the ship. Some surface dirt but otherwise fine. Medium remains fresh and strong. Sold in a simple gilded frame

Catalogue Note

The present view can be compared with other similar views by Van de Velde that depict fleets at the entrance to the Texel, near Den Helder.Multiple fortifications were built in this area due to its prime position at the tip of the North Holland peninsula.
