The canvas is lined. The surface of the work is in overall good condition. There are some repaired tears, one in each quadrant of the painting. There is some pressed craquelure and paint shrinkage. There are noticable stretcherbar marks. Under UV;

Catalogue Note

Two pencil studies for the cart on sketchbook paper framed as one drawing, each with a Detaille estate stamp and each measuring 4 1/4 by 7 in. accompanies this lot. On the verso of one sheet is a sketch of two soldiers on horseback in pen and ink over pencil.
