Catalogue Note

This early portrait of his bicycle is in some ways the prototype that Curnoe would develop into what became one of his signature images. He not only did a great life-size print on plexiglass, but he painted versions of one bicycle wheel and used the image in a number of imaginative ways as a sort of armature for different kinds of painting. His bicycle is a collector's favourite.
