Catalogue Note

Molinari spent most of his long career arranging bars of colour in rhythmic patterns that marched across his large and impressive canvases. Late in his very productive life, he narrowed the range of his colours down to fewer and fewer, until, as in this painting, he dealt with just two closely hued blues.
