Catalogue Note

Don Giovanni was the first of Mozart's operas to be published in full score. Haberkamp and Fuld disagree as to whether or not the first edition should include the 14-page German libretto by Rochlitz (not present here): Haberkamp considers that it should appear, but does not make it an issue point in deciding priority. Fuld however claims that the early copies were sent out before Rochlitz's libretto was ready.
