reporting fine performances of the War Requiem in Vienna ("...especially good singing..."), and his visit to the Soviet Union, referring to A Midsummer Night's Dream and to Rimbaud, inviting him to the Aldeburgh Festival, advising on cheap tickets ("...mention my name!..."), and  a "Prom rehearsal", discussing Vergo's plans to become a conductor, recommending that he continues with the cello ("...You must have worked hard at the Cello Sonata, because it isn't exactly easy..."), and that he apply to study languages and music at Cambridge  ("..besides it's not so far from Aldeburgh, & I might (??) keep a bit of an eye on you!.."), and thanking him for his comments about his music
