First edition, folio (540 x 363mm.), plain aquatint vignette on title, 30 hand-coloured aquatint plates, accompanying letterpress in English and French, paper guard between each plate and text (except frontispiece), contemporary crimson straight-grained morocco gilt, spine gilt, gilt edges, upper corner of final few text leaves repaired, frontispiece offset onto title, some browning and dust-soiling, spotting to some plates (mostly to verso) and text, rebacked retaining original spine, corners repaired, binding rather rubbed
