Catalogue Note

First edition of the earliest bibliography of incunabula, listing some 3,000 items together with a section of anonymous works; the word "incunabula" in the title refers, however, to the infancy of printing rather than incunabula in the modern sense of the word. Beughem was a bookseller for Janssonius in Amsterdam before setting up his own shop in Emmerich; this is one of several bibliographies he compiled. This copy contains the title-page in the cancelled state, with 15 lines of text.
