the case exterior, the keyboard surround and the legs all veneered with handsomely-figured quilted maple, the interior of the lid veneered with plain maple, the six and a half octave keyboard, CC to g4, with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals, Viennese prellmechanik action, six pedals mounted beneath a lyre on a curved stretched controlling una corda, bassoon, damper lift, moderator, ‘cembalo’, bells (cymbal) and drum, sliding music desk, raised on three columnar legs veneered en suite with brass collars embossed with lotus motifs
Inscribed Johann Fritz in Wien on an oval ceramic plaque within a gilt metal frame flanked by vinous decoration and surmounted by two eagles
